Well here it is... My finished Coat of Arms. Soon to be posted, The Illustrator version! using only three colors! Anyway, this was a great project. I'll probably try it again and see if I can come up with something new.
The art of becoming a graphic designer and the random stuff that draws my attention.

Appropriation project
Another project finished. This is an appropriation project that we were doing in my drawing class. It is based of one of Mucha's Job cigarette adds with my own twist added to it. This was interesting to me because I got to play around with a medium that I've never tried before, Pastels on canvas.

And so it goes...
Reached that stage of the semester were I'm starting to feel bogged down by homework... ah well... doing pretty good overall. Learning some pretty cool information: about tracking, kerning and leading etc. etc. Interesting stuff. Also I got to play with a letterpress and now I'm considering (and excited to try) the idea of taking a letterpress and book binding class(es). Once I get a camera, I'll post the example of the letterpress on here.

Finished Assignment
Here is the finished Letter project, well finished #1 of 2. The base is hot press illustration board with a white Plaka coat (Similar to gouache paint). I transferred the letters from traced drawings and lined them with Archival Ink. I then filled in the outlines using black Plaka.
I'll post the second one once I've finished the last details.

Letter assignment
This is an example of what we are doing in our visual communication class. This sample demonstrates how letters can be used outside of their traditional layout forms in an artistic manner, drawing upon both the shape aspect of the typeface and the negative space around the letter form.
I'll keep posting as we progress in this project.

Hello and Welcome!
I've never blogged before in my life but, I hope you will enjoy the random assortment of nonsensical words that will probably make up my posts. My goal with this is to share about my experiences as I continue to work on my degree as a graphic artist. I plan on posting some of my work (the good and the bad) but would also like to discuss about what's happening in the local art scene.
Hope you enjoy.
